Application deadline
The distance learning programme starts in the winter semester (October) of every year. If you consider to access without a university degree, please be aware that we offer an aptitude test that will take place prior to the application phase. The application phase usually opens in mid-May of the respective year. For information on the admission requirements and the application process please visit our website.
Cost/fees
At the moment, the tuition fees amount to EUR 1,990 per semester (including the Master‘s thesis fee). In addition, a social contribution of currently EUR 124 is due each semester. Not included are travel and accommodation expenses or meal allowances during the on-campus phases.

Quantum Technologies, M.Sc.
Objective and Target GroupThe distance learning programme provides in-depth basic knowledge from the field of quantum technologies, specialisations in four pillars of quantum technology as well as lab courses to prepare students on an academic level for their future professional career.
The programme is aimed at individuals who are already active in the field of quantum technologies or related fields and want to deepen their knowledge through a solid foundation of techniques and methods on a scientific basis.
Teaching-Learning-Format
The teaching-learning-format consists of comprehensive, scientifically sound and practice-oriented self-study materials that have been developed by experts especially for distance learning, an online campus as an interactive learning platform and on-campus phases to consolidate the knowledge that is acquired through self-study in theory and practice. Mandatory on-campus phases take place once per semester over a (long) weekend in Kaiserslautern.

The Distance and Independent Studies Center is one of the central academic facilities of the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU). It offers part-time continuing education distance learning programmes in the fields of social sciences, economics, law, natural sciences, and engineering. This includes Master‘s programmes and Certificate programmes and courses in German and English.
